KATHMANDU
The Kathmandu valley is the heart of the
historical country. This small basin indeed saw emerging and breaking
down the dynasties, flowering and disappearing from innumerable
palates and temples, developing and refining the Nepalese culture
and art.
The three principal valleys are Kathmandu,
Patan and Bhaktapur have each one an artistic and architectural
tradition which is worth largely what one can find in the European
capitals. Kathmandu is the capital and the more important city
of the country.
The Newars are the first inhabitants of
the valley of Kathmandu. They speak a language Tibéto-Burmese,
proof of their origin of the east, but their physical features
connect them at the same time with the Mongols.
In fact, the valley of Kathmandu is the
place of gathering of races and cultures coming at the same time
from the east and the west. This mixture gave rise to the Newar
culture to which one owes the beauties artistic and architectural
of the valley.
